about

To be blunt, after all the passion and work that went into FAMILY LIFE, it landed with a dull thud. I was desperate to keep the “brand” alive, so to speak, so after only a few months I started tinkering with a fourth album. In response to a common complaint that all of my songs sounded the same up to that point, I even went to the trouble of writing some songs in distinctively different ways than the others, in an attempt to mimic how multiple songwriters in a real band might approach songs. Between this and a more advanced/personalized production sound, the result was a much more raw but direct album, probably Snafu’s best to date.

The final thematic direction became a general venting about the state of the world under the Uber-obnoxious and delusional Trump era; it became more than a little haunting when Christchurch, New Zealand, suffered a racial mass shooting mere hours after this album was released. In respect to this horrible coincidence, for a month afterwards, the album was available for free and fans were asked to donate to various humanitarian and anti-racism charities.

about

Sonic Snafu Hamilton, Ontario

I play mainly progressive/alternative music, with very thoughtful themes. My music tends to be very emotional and cinematic, with experimental textures. My shows have been busking events with other local musicians like The Sadie Project.
